Friday Favourites

The news of the earthquake and tsunamis in Japan is absolutely devastating. I’m sure there’s been some nifty stuff in the last 24 hours but I don’t feel much like looking through my blog feed to share it. However, here is the stuff I have already gathered up over the last week to post today!

buttontop

The Button Top tutorial at Shwin&Shwin. I love love love love lovelovelovelove love x annoying LOVE the bodice on this top. The linen is lovely and summery. You know what’s not lovely and summery, OR made of linen? Anything outside my window. AS PER USUAL.

Random sidebar: I was perusing Old Navy’s basic sale and I was reading the description for the jeggings in the girls section (Nicole wears a girls XS or a toddlers 4/5, and if it was too big it would fit in the next year)… I just stopped short at the words, “Fits low at waist.” Maybe I’m overreacting a bit, I haven’t seen the jeans in person, but why is ‘fits low at waist’ even an OPTION in little girls clothing?! It bothers me to no ends that I find myself having to do the buttcrack check before committing to pants… ON MY THREE YEAR OLD. I’m sure I’m just preaching to the choir, though, as I highly doubt any of my readers have little prostitots parading around.

Simple and classy. Start with something like this and before you know it you’ll be adding pockets and fake plackets. Style up your little guy or gal. (and get the rise right by doing it yourself! lol.)

-this yarn wreath, found via The Tumtum Tree. The only thing that would make me nervous about this is putting a big stabby needle on the front door. Just saying. Although it would come in handy for fending off Jehovah’s Witnesses and kids selling chocolate. (JUST KIDDING. The Jehovah’s Witnesses seem to have gotten sick of me trying to convert them while they tried to convert me, because I haven’t seen them in a while, and the kids have figured out that I never.have.cash.handy and apparently they don’t take debit.)

I hope that you all have a great weekend! I, for one, am hiding in my sewing room today, working on finishing the projects I have started over the last few weeks. I have a table at a community ‘mom to mom’ sale in May and I’m going to be doing a whole bunch of tutus, key fob wristlets, maybe hair accessories and a few other things, too… I figure anything I don’t sell, I can list on etsy. I’m hoping to fund a new lens for my camera with anything I earn with my crafties. I do want to do photography as more than just a hobby… but don’t want to get a business license and charge business prices while I’m still working with my kit lens and my old manual lens. Especially because it’s kids and families I love to photograph and if you haven’t noticed… kids move. Autofocus is not really optional when you have to be quick like a bunny. (Unless you’re super awesome, and I’m only just semi-awesome.)

In the meantime, though, I am more than willing to do photography on the barter system! If you need product shots for your etsy or website… or are local and could trade me some goods/services for photography… give me a shout! We may just be able to work something out. :)

I’m curious… how many of my readers are local? I was contacted to do a giveaway for my local readers. It involves yoga classes. I, too, am intruiged. And yes, I have been known to get my downward-facing-dog on. In fact, cat-cow pose saved my back during this past pregnancy.

  1. From the VERY few comments I have posted here and on Facebook you may already know this. But I am semi local. Moved to a small town about 45 minutes away a few years ago but come to the city semi regularly still. Although probably not regularly enough to go to Yoga. However I have lots of friends in the city that I could point in the direction of your blog for a giveaway :)

  2. Well, I'm local (like run-into-you-at-the-grocery-store local), but I am thinking you already knew that... ;-)

Loving the wreath, too. Very Yarn Harlot.
