cringeworthy

K so this was even cringe worthy when it was taken summer 08, what with the camping-hair. Never mind it flashing through now randomly in the middle of a slideshow of all the pictures on my computer.

Regardless, though, this was me, fat and unhappy and very low-energy. I remember feeling so tired and miserable this whole vacation. My hair is gross-colored b/c I had bleached it blonde in an attempt to make myself feel better, and then dyed it back because I looked like white trash. I never wanted to go out because I was self-conscious.

I cannot express how much of a difference 20 pounds can make. I lost my weight by not snacking unless I was at a party, and doing Wii Fit for at least half an hour, two or three times a week. The first 15 pounds went that way, at least. Now I exercise much more rigorously, but to start, that was nice and easy and made me feel (and look) a lot better.

I still have another 20 pounds to go before I’m considered fit, and while I’d like to hit that I’m not totally obsessed. I’m still overweight, at a size 12/L, but I’m a heck of a lot happier and a heck of a lot healthier.

WORTH IT.

opening one of my presents - Your Shape for Wii! Speaking of shape, I must have mental problems because I swear I'm fatter than this, and how wierd is that to say?December 09

  1. You look amazing! And you know what else? You totally inspired me to start the Wii Fit Challenge... And I am LOVING IT! Only problem is, we just moved and with all the boxes to unpack I have fallen off the band wagon... Tonight, I WILL be hopping back on! Thanks so much!

  2. thanks! I'm glad. I barely recognize myself in that photo, so it's not too hard to post it, because I don't really feel like it's me. haha. You wouldn't have caught me posting it a year and a half ago though! It's so nice to feel good enough to crawl up into the beaver dam at the local children's museum with my daughter, too, another thing I wouldn't have done a year ago. It's kind of hard to believe that one year ago I was nearly 200 pounds, and now I'm down to 175!

  4. thanks and thanks! :D
With the weight, it kind of felt like it happened overnight in a way, because I did it 'right' so it was very, very gradual. Suddenly one day I realized all my clothes were too big. I bought an outfit in my size, and borrowed a bunch of clothes, and suddenly it was like a stranger was in the mirror. But now I'm used to it and the me I was 20 lbs ago is the stranger!
